Reserves FAQs: Faculty

Course Reserves are materials shelved at the Library Services Desk for student use.

The Library purchases one copy of most required textbooks, solution manuals, and other select materials. Recommended textbooks are only purchased at the suggestion of course instructors.

How do I let the Library know I want an item on Course Reserves?

Email shirley.moreno@uhsp.edu with the following information:

  • Name of course
  • Semester taught
  • Item information:
    • title
    • author
    • ISBN
    • date of publication

When do I need to let the Library know I want an item(s) on Reserve?

Ideally, several weeks prior to the start of the semester, so that we have time to process the item.

Can I put my own personal materials on Reserve at the Library?

Yes! Please email shirley.moreno@uhsp.edu. Items are usually placed on reserve for the semester. At the end of the semester, all print items and personal copies are returned to the owner.

Can I put items from other libraries on reserve?

No, we can only put items from the UHSP Library or personal copies on Reserve.

What are the options for checkout length?

The standard checkout length is 2 hours. Other checkout lengths include 3 hours, overnight, 1 day, or 3 days.

How can students find out if something is on reserve for my class?

Through the Course Reserves search option in the Library catalog. Classes can be searched for by course name or instructor name.
