How to Find a Book

Looking for a book? This guide can help you find a book in our Library, from other Missouri libraries, or through Interlibrary Loan.

Finding and Using Books

Books are a great resource for general background and in-depth coverage of a topic.

Books and eBooks can be found in the UHSP Library's collection using the Library's Discovery Search on the Library's homepage or directly through the library catalog. For help locating books in the UHSP Library see the At UHSP page of this guide.

If you aren't able to find what you need within the UHSP collection, you can search and request books through MOBIUS. MOBIUS is a large consortium of academic libraries in Missouri and surrounding states, plus several large public libraries. MOBIUS libraries share books with other member libraries for free. Please note that licensing agreements do not allow libraries to loan ebooks; MOBIUS can only be used for print materials.

There are several nearby MOBIUS libraries that you can visit and use your UHSP ID to check out books. See the MOBIUS and Nearby Libraries pages for more information.

Occasionally, the book you are looking for may not be available in MOBIUS. When that happens, you can submit an Interlibrary Loan request for the book. Library Staff will then search worldwide to find another library that owns the book. Interlibrary Loan is a free service for UHSP faculty, staff, students, residents, and preceptors. For more information, see the Interlibrary Loan page of this guide.
